Comic-Con, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA

To highlight two new shows from ABC, “Flash Forward” and “V”, Paradigm Shift was contracted to create two separate, themed, interactive booths at the famed Comic-Con convention in San Diego, CA.

The “Flash Forward” Booth

For “Flash Forward,” Paradigm created an experience that followed the plot line in the show…the fact that simultaneously, around the world, everyone lost consciousness and had an individual vision of the future during the blackout. The booth featured a reception area, where guests were encouraged to sign up and become members of the “Mosaic Task Force.” Once signed up, guests entered a blackout room and participated in a “flash forward” experiment. Created as an electronic “Rorschach Test” of sorts, a plasma screen flashed a series of images very quickly at the subject for 20-30 seconds. Once the “flash” was completed, guests exited the room on the opposite side, where they were greeted by a “Flash Forward” FBI agent, who gathered data on “what they saw.” During the sign up process, attendee information was collected for utilization in future promotions.

The “V” Booth

The concept for this small booth focused on the “V Ambassador” recruitment activities featured prominently in the series pilot. The booth consisted of hard wall backdrop structures, featuring a series of printed graphic “stand-offs” to re-create the interior look of the mother ship. The center of the wall featured a 65” plasma screen, playing a loop tape of “Anna’s greeting” with full audio. Three female “visitors” were on hand to distribute pamphlets and actively recruiting Comic Con guests to become “V Ambassadors.
